  • This marks the exciting starting point for Day 1 of our journey together. Our primary goal during this initial phase is to thoroughly understand you and your unique climbing style, including your strengths and areas for improvement. With a clear context of your specific goals and aspirations in mind, we will highlight seven essential skills to develop that will surely ensure meaningful growth in your climbing abilities.

    This comprehensive assessment will not only provide us with valuable insights but also create an effective road map, outlining where we are heading next in your climbing adventure and how we can achieve your desired outcomes together.

  • A coaching session that is hyper-focused on your unique individual needs and specific ambitions as a dedicated climber.

    If you are new to the climbing world, a one-hour session is generally plenty of time to touch on some fundamental skills and techniques.

    For those who are seasoned climbers, a 1.5-hour session provides ample opportunity to reflect on your performance, absorb valuable feedback, and learn between attempts, ultimately enhancing your climbing experience.

  • If each of the athletes has successfully completed their Skills Evaluation, a 2 on 1 Coaching Session proves to be an exceptional opportunity, particularly for regular climbing partners.

    This style of session not only allows for more ample rest between attempts, but also provides invaluable insight into your partners' specific needs and how best to support them throughout the process.

    Additionally, it fosters a sense of camaraderie, reminding everyone involved that they are not alone on this shared journey toward improvement and excellence.

CONSIDERATIONS

    • Youth Competitor - Currently a member of a youth climbing team but seeking experienced and knowledgeable guidance on effective strategies and techniques to significantly enhance climbing skills and overall performance in competitions.

    • Older Teen Competitor - Currently not affiliated with a youth team and engaging in training independently, but actively seeking consistent support and coaching throughout the competitive season to enhance performance and technique.

    • Enthusiastic New Climber - Highly motivated and eager to improve their climbing skills as quickly as possible, seeking to overcome challenges and reach new heights in their journey.

    • Fearful Climber - This individual demonstrates solid movement skills and technique when operating within their established comfort zone. However, as soon as they attempt to push themselves beyond these familiar boundaries, they often experience a sense of freezing up and can feel mentally blocked, which hinders their ability to perform effectively.

    • Routine Injuries - Are you curious whether particular aspects of your climbing style or specific weaknesses in your technique are contributing to the frequent injuries you experience?

    • Plateaued Climber - Having invested countless hours into climbing over the years, this individual now finds themselves feeling stagnated, stuck at a particular grade, and in need of expert guidance on how to effectively direct their training efforts moving forward.

    • Aging Climber - Many climbers reach a stage in their lives where they feel they can still push their limits and climb hard, yet they often wonder if there are proven strategies or tactics that can be implemented to ensure their longevity in the sport.

    • Performance Driven Climber - Have been consistently advancing and improving over the years and now seek some dedicated support to help maintain and enhance that progress effectively.

  • Begin by selecting a location that is convenient, comfortable and familiar for you. As you progress and gain more confidence, gradually choose an environment that presents greater challenges to help you grow and improve your skills.

    • $100 for 1 hour is ideal for regular bursts of coaching tailored specifically for the typical climber, allowing you to effectively warm up before the session begins. This approach not only maximizes your climbing performance but also helps to enhance your overall skills and techniques during each training period.

    • $150 for 1.5 hours is an ideal investment for those looking to learn the essential art of warming up effectively. This duration not only allows ample time to engage in proper warm-up techniques but also provides an opportunity for rest and discussion of important concepts. Additionally, it ensures that participants can benefit from a well-structured training session that enhances their overall performance.

    • $200 for 2 hours of coaching is ideal for 2 on 1 Coaching and individuals who are passing through Colorado and wish to maximize their climbing experience while receiving focused and personalized instruction. This arrangement ensures that participants can make the most of their time, regardless of their skill level or climbing goals.

      • For 2 on 1 Coaching the athletes will split the price.

      • All in-person sessions must be paid at the front desk at Movement on the day of the session.

Session Focus

  • In the first coaching session, we'll observe your warm-up and gradually increase the difficulty of the climbs. Justen aims to understand your priorities and decision-making as a climber, to establish trust and enhance your climbing. Justen will share observations, listing strengths, highlighting pitfalls, and suggesting ways to improve. He focuses on skills that hinder progress, presents observations constructively, and shares opportunities for growth. After each session, Justen connects with the athlete, asking for their reflection to enhance their understanding. Expect verbal communication on specific drills for practice. Days later you will receive a written evaluation on your skills.

  • The Support Session is designed specifically for those who are eager to make their practice time significantly more effective and purposeful. Athletes often comprehend the various concepts presented in the Skills Evaluation, but figuring out how to effectively practice those skills can sometimes prove elusive and challenging. Coach Sjong will offer guidance on skill practice that is not only functional but also practical, providing insights into how to set achievable goals and how to structure your training routines for optimal productivity and enhanced performance.

  • A Training Session is specifically designed for clients who are eager to blend their physical training with effective coaching during their regular gym visits. Coach Sjong will carefully structure a tailored routine that aims to help you achieve new levels of intensity while also conditioning your skills to effectively function under stress and strain. This comprehensive approach ensures that you not only improve your physical capabilities but also enhance your performance in challenging situations.

  • A Performance Session is specifically designed for dedicated athletes who are eager to excel at climbing, whether it's during their onsight attempts, while pushing their projecting limits, or in a competitive setting such as a climbing competition. During these focused sessions, Coach Sjong will work closely with you, offering not only personalized coaching but also tailored strategies and effective mental preparation techniques aimed at helping you achieve and surpass your performance goals.

  • The Next Step Session is specifically designed for climbers who have been diligently working hard on their skill development and are now seeking guidance on what to do next or may require clarification on certain aspects. These insightful sessions focus on collaboration and aim to build upon the progress you've already made, ensuring that you continue to grow in your climbing journey. Coach Sjong will provide valuable insights and personalized support to help you further enhance your skills and reach your climbing goals effectively.
